Our team works hard every day to deliver high standards with a friendly atmosphere, so why not have a webpage to show off our team?
After all, we are very proud of them !!
Calley Edwards – General Manager
Calley joined The Queens Head Inn back in 2011 as a General Assistant looking to develop her career in the industry, and has worked her way up to be our General Manager.
The buzz and atmosphere when we are busy is what keeps Calley going and when she isn’t at work, which is not very often, you can find her strolling around Derwent Water & spending quality time with her family. A good pint of Estrella and a Goat Cheese & Caramelised Onion Ciabatta is a pub favourite of Calleys.
When she is able to get away from work for more than a couple of days, Dominican Republic is firm favourite holiday destination!
Calley is a keen singer and enjoys cover songs, maybe we could get her to do some karaoke at the pub?!
Kevin Hodge – Head Chef
Kevin started at The Queens Inn as our Head Chef back in 2012. What brought Kevin to us was the chance of working with a close-knit family run pub. Kevin’s always posting up photos of his dishes on Instagram. Risotto is a firm favourite dish of Kevins which is generally enjoyed with a Fosters Top. Head Chefs are always busy people committing many hours to their trade, but when Kevin is not working he likes to spend his free time with his son Harry. Working in The Lakes has lead to Cartmel being a favourite place to visit, and when abroad, Spain is another favourite – who doesn’t want sunshine on holiday right?!
Kevin’s also a big 70’s music fan so maybe we can get him and Calley on a karaoke night here at The Queens?
Alex Staveley – Assistant Manager
Our newly appointed Assistant Manager as of March 2017, hails from Gaborone, Botswana but has lived in The Lake District since 2006.
Growing up in quite a dry climate, he always dreamed of living and working in a place with lush green rolling hills and lakes nearby.
He had been living his dream by working in The Lake District and now has hopped on over to Hawkshead from Grasmere to expand his skill sets and further his career.
When Alex is not at work, he can usually be found attending car shows throughout the UK or enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends.
Something Alex doesn’t tell many people is that he has represented Botswana U12 Judo and Cricket, as well as the Botswana Clay-Pigeon shooting team (along side his father) and currently holds a World Record for the heaviest Catfish caught on a particular line category!
Vicky Barr – Head Housekeeper
Vicky joined us in April as our Head Housekeeper. She decided to join our team based on hearing positive things on our establishment as well as our staff. Vicky loves the outdoors and spends a lot of her free time walking around the country side. She also enjoys cooking and cleaning in her free time. Vickys favourite pub food would have to be a mixed grill. Favourite holiday destination would be somewhere cultured and that also offers Bloody Mary’s or other cocktails. Vicky likes making jewellery when not at work or walking out in the country side
Galfi Szabolcs – General Assistant
Szabi joined us in January 2017 with his girlfriend Timea as general assistants. He always has a smile on his face and is full of energy 24/7. His infectious demeanour puts smiles on all the staff and customers faces, even those with wagging tails! Szabi is always at hand with a dog treat for any four-legged friends that come join us at The Queens.
When Szabi isn’t working, he’s exploring the country side and old buildings. He likes to spend his free time on the basketball courts or getting his hands on anything electronic! Even though Szabi is not from the Uk, fish & chips is his favourite pub dish! He enjoys self-development and visiting exotic places, desserts, seasides and antique cities.
Timea Molnar – General Assistant
Timea joined us in February 2017. She came to The Queens to work along her boyfriend, Szabi. Timea enjoys cooking in her free time as well as a good movie. She likes to keep active by playing basketball and cycling. Timea enjoys her work at The Queens as she’s able to meet some amazing people as well as working in a beautiful location. She also likes to visit Red Pike, Skiddaw, Walla Grag and Fleetwith Pike when not working. Timeas favourite holiday destination so far would have to be Mexico, but she’d also like to visit Machu Picchu & Peru. Something that not many people know about Timea is that she has studied the German New Medicine by Dr Hamer and also knows Metaphysics
Peter Szabo – General Assistant
Peter joined us in April 2017. He came to The Queens to work along side some of his friends who already work here. He enjoys the staff banter and that everyone is motivated to make sure our guests leave us with a smile on their faces. When Peter is not working, he is normally hanging out with his mates, watching movies or playing video games. His favourite food would have to be Crispy Chicken Strips with a good lager or craft beer. Peter likes to travel and Paris is his favourite destination so far – he would still like to visit Ibiza or St. Tropez. Although Peter hasn’t been with us very long, he enjoys walking around the village taking in the sights and sounds. He’s also a bit of a tech-wiz who enjoys making websites and has studied IT in high school & university.
Nathan Potter – General Assistant
Nathan joined us during March 2017 and has quickly settled in with us. He came to us looking to expand his skill set and to enjoy the local area.
When Nathan’s not behind bar pulling pints, you can find him enjoying a pint of Lakeland Lager & a Westmorland Willy Pizza at The Queens.
Nathan’s an active lad who likes to walk around the fells and lakes and has found the Ambleside, Windermere and Hawkshead areas to be favourites of his.
When travelling abroad, Belize is a firm holiday destination favourite as well. Nathan enjoys rock-climbing in his free time as a way to disconnect from work.
Damien – Kitchen Porter
Damien joined us back in 2011 and has been a favourite in the kitchen. He’s always smiling and making people laugh. He enjoys working at The Queens as it feels like family. When Damien isn’t working he likes walks around the village and does enjoy a good steak and a pint of our Double Hop. His favourite holiday destination is Jamaica and his favourite place to visit in The Lake District would have to be the beautiful Tarn Hows
